NEW! – TEEN SUMMER INTENSIVE – Filmmaking at RIDEAU COMMUNITY HUB
July 6-10, 2026
Learn how to create films, using only a phone! This teen intensive will focus on the art of filmmaking, led by a professional filmmaker, and give teens the skills to create art using inexpensive equipment.
Teens will work with their teacher each day from 9am to 4pm at the Rideau Hub, and end the week with a screening and feedback session.
Drama Play
Come play with us! Our littlest students will have fun being creative, playing games, taking turns, and sharing ideas in this class that introduces them to acting and storytelling. Each Drama Play session is 8 weeks long and ends with a chance to shine in a studio presentation for family and friends.
Story Drama – 7-8
Our Story Drama class teaches acting and performance skills and teamwork, while deepening students’ understanding of stories and plot. Through improvisation, games, and speech and movement work, students will work together as an ensemble from September to June to stage a play for our May Showcase in the Richcraft Theatre.
Primary Drama – 9-10
This 75-minute class builds a team in creating theatre together: movement, voice, mask work, characterization and script work are explored, with a continued focus on storytelling. This exploration of theatre through ensemble culminates in a play in our May Showcase in the Richcraft Theatre.
Intermediate Drama – 11-12
This course focuses on acting skills as the individual within the group is explored in greater depth through movement, voice, mask work, characterization, and script work. This exploration of theatre will lead to a stage play in our May Showcase in the Richcraft Theatre.
Intermediate Musical – 11-12 – or 10 years old with prerequisite
Designed for older children, Intermediate Musical deepens students’ understanding of musical theatre, touching on the history of the art form. Students will explore acting through speech and movement, musical theatre dance technique, and individual and group singing. Dance choreography will be taught to the full class, and 1 vocal coaching session will be provided to each student outside of class time. Previous experience is not necessary, but enthusiasm, commitment and team spirit are essential! Students will work together from September to June, leading to a musical presentation in our May Showcase in the Richcraft Theatre.
This class is for 11-12 year olds, or 10 year olds who have previously taken our Primary Musical class.
Teen Acting & Performance – 13-17
Build your acting skills with a more advanced study of improvisation, character development, dialogue, and monologues. Students will work on voice, movement, blocking concepts, script analysis, and performing individually and as a group. Opportunities will be provided to those who want to design their own costumes, set and props, and marketing design. This class culminates in a play in our May Showcase in the Richcraft Theatre.
