Welcome to an exciting new school year at the Ottawa School of Theatre – École de théâtre d’Ottawa!

Message from our Artistic Director:
The Ottawa School of Theatre – École de théâtre d’Ottawa keeps on growing!
Even with expanding our classes every year for the last 4 years, it seems our community just can’t get enough drama! This makes our theatre-nerd hearts very, very happy.
While looking for new ways to expand, we’re thinking seriously about how to do it right. OST’s strength is where the values of Theatrical Excellence and Community Engagement meet, and we’re working hard to live in that sweet spot through classes taught by professional artists, professional director and playwright engagement, and high production value, while prioritizing a kind atmosphere where everyone can belong and be mentored on their artistic journey.
This year our theme is Classic Theatre. How did our art form become what it is? Using age-appropriate adaptations and concepts, students will learn about classic theatre and present their final play based on a classic work of Greek Theatre, Shakespeare, Molière, Commedia dell’arte, Ibsen, Chekhov, classic novels, and other foundational works. Specialized classes like Musical Theatre, Sketch Comedy, and Filmmaking will use the theme to explore the golden age of each form.
Nous avons aussi plusieurs cours en français – cliquez ici pour plus d’informations.
It’s a splash of a season for All Ages Plays, presenting both in the big beautiful Harold Shenkman Hall. I’m thrilled to direct Little Women, going up December 4-6, 2026, and Erin MacDonald will direct A Midsummer Night’s Dream April 30-May 2, 2027.
We believe that theatre classes not only shape artists, they shape citizens – people, young and old, learning to give and take in a group setting. It can create friendships, teams, entertainment, and art at the same time. Come join us and see what you can create!
