Ottawa School of Theatre’s mission is to offer excellence in theatre education and experience that is accessible to students of all ages, and to be a creative catalyst for self-confident performers and discerning and appreciative patrons of the arts in our school and the greater community. A portion of our annual budget is dedicated to providing workshops free of charge to community organisations serving under resourced and vulnerable populations.
If you are interested in becoming one of our community partners, please contact us at outreach@ost-eto.ca.
Recent and Ongoing Community Partnerships
Concentric Circles of Care – Voices in Action: Reflections from African, Caribbean, and Black Youth
Working with multiple community health and resource centres in Ottawa, OST coordinated spoken word workshops with JustJamaal for racialized youth to express themselves. This resulted in a short documentary by OST’s Cassandre Mentor, screened for youth, families, and local leaders in June 2025.

Ba yo! Collective in partnership with Rideau-Rockcliffe Community Resource Centre
RRCRC and OST have joined forces to bring the Ba yo! Collective to life, creating a judgement-free zone for youth 14+ to explore their performative and artistic talents. Students will receive tickets to two plays, which the group will attend together. Led by actor Cassandre Mentor, students will have the opportunity to learn about acting, movement and voice, and will have the chance to meet with guest speakers and other local theatre professionals.
