Rideau Community Hub Classes

We are thrilled to announce that we are launching some of our most popular drama classes for kids at a new location! We will run classes on Saturdays at the Rideau Community Hub on St. Laurent Blvd.

Drama Play – Ages 4-5

Saturdays 9:00 to 9:45 am

Come play with us! Our littlest students will have fun being creative, playing games, taking turns, and sharing ideas in this class that introduces them to acting and storytelling. Each Drama Play session is 8 weeks long and ends with a chance to shine in a studio presentation for family and friends.

Drama Play sessions run October 19 to December 7, January 11 to March 1, and March 22 to May 31.

Young Musical – Ages 6-8

Saturdays 10:00 to 11:00 am

Young Musical is designed for children discovering musical theatre for the first time, this class focuses on acting skills, group singing, and basic dance and movement. Enthusiasm, commitment, and team spirit are necessary to participate in this class. Students will work towards a short play presented to parents at the end of May.

Story Drama – Age 7-8

Saturdays 11:15 am to 12:15 pm

Our Story Drama class teaches acting and performance skills and teamwork, while deepening students’ understanding of stories and plot. Through improvisation, games, and speech and movement work, students will work together as an ensemble from September to June to create and stage a play for the Student Showcase in May at the Rideau Hub.

Primary Drama – Ages 9-10

Saturdays 12:30 to 1:45 pm

Primary Drama is a 75-minute class builds a team in creating theatre together: movement, voice, mask work, characterization and script work, with a continued focus on storytelling. This exploration of theatre through ensemble culminates in a stage play in the OST Student Showcase in May at the Rideau Hub.

Intermediate Drama – Age 11-12

Saturdays 2:00 to 3:15 pm

Intermediate Drama focuses on acting skills as the individual within the group is explored in greater depth through movement, voice, mask work, characterization, and script work. This exploration of theatre will lead to a stage play in the OST Student Showcase in May at the Rideau Hub.

Collective Creation (formerly Young Creators) – Ages 9-12

Saturdays 3:30 to 4:45 pm

Discover the power of stories and character as you work to create your own! Collective Creation is designed as a first experience in collective creation; the art of creating a show with your class collaborators. Benefits of this class include teamwork, cooperation, imagination, focus, and a greater understanding of the creation process. This very popular class was previously known as Young Creators, and will continue to teach the content of that much beloved class as students work as an ensemble to create and act in their own show, culminating in a performance in the OST Student Showcase in May at the Rideau Hub.
