Les élèves de douze ans et plus s’initieront à la scène et découvriront le théâtre par le biais de pièces créatives, de jeux de rôles, de mimes et de narrations. Les élèves présenteront un spectacle portes-ouvertes en d/cembre et en mars, ainsi qu’une pièce en tournée au printemps. La classe ira visiter jusqu’à cinq lieux. L’étudiant devra manquer 2 ou 3 jours d’école. Les élèves pourront explorer différents aspects d’une tournée théâtrale : comment monter et défaire un décor, comment prendre en charge les accessoires et costumes et comment s’adapter aux différents espaces de représentation. Les places sont limitées.

Âges 13+ : Interprétation pour la caméra – Cours bilingue

Les étudiants du cours d’interprétation pour caméra vont apprendre et pratiquer les bases de la réalisation et de l’interprétation pour la caméra. Ce cours offre des opportunités d’expression artistique pour les étudiants puisqu’ensemble, avec l’enseignant, ils créeront plusieurs projets tout au long de l’année. Le cours progresse vers une production finale créé entièrement par les étudiants, via des projets préparatifs tels que : un dialogue de base, un film muet, et des histoires de 2 minutes, etc. Le public pourra visionner les projets tout au long de l’année sur le site web de l’ÉTO ainsi que la production finale lors d’une présentation au printemps. Une des seules classes de l’ETO qui est totalement orientée vers le divertissement. Nous nous concentrons sur le PLAISIR!! This program operates as an audition-entry company for students 15+. It is composed of a professional director and a group of dedicated students who collectively run the company and are involved in every aspect, including design, stage management, direction, Front of House, building, acting, promotion and financial reporting. There will be one production in February 2019 on stage in the Richcraft Theatre. Rehearsal times depend on the company, but will include both week night and weekend times.

Together, the class will have FUN with the works of William Shakespeare. If a student wants to work towards the Royal Conservatory Speech and Dramatic Arts exam he/she would meet with the Artistic Director to discuss which exam would be the best choice. They would then do some work choosing performance pieces, meet again with the Artistic Director who would assign a teacher to work one on one to coach in preparation for the exam. There will be a Master Class for the RC students to practice and share their work.

Do you want to learn how to Stage Fight? Ever wonder how actors stay safe in movies or plays? Most storytelling includes physical conflict. From « Romeo and Juliet » to « Star Wars », the ability to stay safe and to deliver what the fight director needs are huge assets for the actor.
This workshop will start with unarmed stage combat and move to swords and sticks.

What is acting all about? Sharing! This class builds a show then shares it with audiences of all ages. Students will collectively create their own show and learn about scripts, casting, rehearsing, design, stage management, promoting your show. Learn about the aspects of touring: putting up/striking sets, caring for props and costumes, dealing with challenges of varying performance spaces.  This class will involve acting for a performance in the OST Student Spring Showcase and possible other venues and may require students to miss 2-3 days of school. Class size is limited. Parent volunteers are very much appreciated!

Be ready for your High School Shakespeare study. With an emphasis on play, physicality, character and emotion, be prepared to shake up your Shakespeare!  Shakespeare makes for exciting and dynamic theatre. GHOSTS! Meet Shakespeare’s ghosts and magical characters! Funny! Shakespeare has many COMEDIC scenes of mistaken identity and hilarious adventures! Battles and Death scenes are an actor’s dream! On-camera students will learn and practice the basics of film-making and acting. Workshop Intensives (6 weeks)

Ages 11-17: Stage Combat

Do you want to learn how to Stage Fight? Ever wonder how actors stay safe in movies or plays? Most storytelling includes physical conflict. From « Romeo and Juliet » to « Star Wars », the ability to stay safe and to deliver what the fight director needs are huge assets for the actor.
This workshop will start with unarmed stage combat and move to swords and sticks.

OST’s Adult English theatre recreational class: the focus is on FUN! Learn about theatre – character development, stage business, voice and movement and take a break from « real » life! With an emphasis on PLAY, physicality, character and emotion, be prepared to learn as you have fun!  Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are needed for this class. This is an excellent way to keep those brain cells YOUNG! This class ends with a stage production in the Shenkman Arts Centre’s Richcraft Theatre. Class size is limited.

Acting for the Mature Theatre Lover

This course in Acting is for students who would like to learn about acting in a fun environment.  Learn how to lift a script off the page and bringing it to life on the stage! You will overcome your inhibitions of performing in front of others, learn the basics of becoming a character in a play, hone the acting chops which you may have already developed years ago, and rehearse scenes for performance in one of our black box studios in front of a gentle audience. You’re never too old to become a star! Prerequisites: A wish for Adventure! No other experience or training is required!

OST One Session Intensive “Own It” workshops: Watch for one session Own It’s in:  Voice / Character Development / Mask / Puppet Play / Clown / Costume Design / Set Design / Special Make-up Intensive / Yoga for Actors / and Stage Management. Theatre professionals will work intensively with OST students to hone and own their theatre skills.
