NEW: Ages 15+: TACo Teen Acting Co. – entry by audition

TACo operates as an audition-entry company for students 15+. It is composed of a professional director and a group of dedicated students who collectively run the company and are involved in every aspect, including design, stage management, direction, Front of House, building, acting, promotion and financial reporting. There will be one TACo production in February 2019 on stage in the Richcraft Theatre. Rehearsal times depend on the company, but will include both week night and weekend times.

Ages 9-12: Junior Shakespeare   

Together, the class will have FUN with the works of William Shakespeare. Child-appropriate chunks of the Bard’s works will lay a foundation for reading or performing his original works.  These students will enter Shakespeare’s world, ‘see’ the settings, ‘hear’ the characters speak and feel their emotions, and together with their teacher create an exciting performance piece! The audience will enjoy a presentation in December and March and a stage production in the Spring Student Showcase. Class size is limited.

What is acting all about? Sharing! This class builds a show then shares it with audiences of all ages.  Learn about the aspects of touring: putting up/striking sets, caring for props and costumes, dealing with challenges of varying performance spaces. This exploration of theatre and acting will produce from one to four TOUR performances as well as a performance in the OST Spring Student Showcase and may require students to miss 2-3 days of school. Class size is limited. Parent volunteers are very much appreciated!

Be ready for your High School Shakespeare study. With an emphasis on play, physicality, character and emotion, be prepared to shake up your Shakespeare!  Shakespeare makes for exciting and dynamic theatre. GHOSTS! Meet Shakespeare’s ghosts and magical characters! Funny! Shakespeare has many COMEDIC scenes of mistaken identity and hilarious adventures! Battles and Death scenes are an actor’s dream! Acting for the camera, students will learn and practice the basics of filmmaking and acting. This class provides students with an opportunity for artistic expression as together, with their teacher, they create an episodic WEB SERIES to be aired every two weeks. Students may visit other OST classes to tape and create an OST commercial for social media and the OST website. The audience will enjoy their production in the Spring Student Showcase and throughout the year on the OST website. Class size is limited.

Ages 8+: Theatre Exams

If a student wants to work towards the Royal Conservatory Speech and Dramatic Arts exam he/she would meet with the Artistic Director to discuss which exam would be the best choice. They would then do some work choosing performance pieces, meet again with the Artistic Director who would assign a teacher to work one on one to coach in preparation for the exam. There will be a Master Class for the RC students to practice and share their work.

Ages 11-17: Stage Combat

Do you want to learn how to Stage Fight? Ever wonder how actors stay safe in movies or plays? Most storytelling includes physical conflict. From “Romeo and Juliet” to “Star Wars”, the ability to stay safe and to deliver what the fight director needs are huge assets for the actor.
This workshop will start with unarmed stage combat and move to swords and sticks.

Âges 12 + : Troupe d’Ados

Les élèves de douze ans et plus s’initieront à la scène et découvriront le théâtre par le biais de pièces créatives, de jeux de rôles, de mimes et de narrations. Les élèves présenteront un spectacle portes-ouvertes en d/cembre et en mars, ainsi qu’une pièce en tournée au printemps. La classe ira visiter jusqu’à cinq lieux. L’étudiant devra manquer 2 ou 3 jours d’école. Les élèves pourront explorer différents aspects d’une tournée théâtrale : comment monter et défaire un décor, comment prendre en charge les accessoires et costumes et comment s’adapter aux différents espaces de représentation. Les places sont limitées.

Les élèves présenteront une pièce de théâtre au printemps.

4-5 ans: Théâtre préscolaire

Les élèves de 4 à 5 ans s’initieront à la scène et découvriront le théâtre par le biais de pièces créatives, de jeux de personnages simples, de mimes et de narrations. Les élèves présenteront un spectacle portes-ouvertes pendant la dernière semaine des cours. Les places sont limitées.

Âges 12 + : COMÉDIE pour ados

L’art de la comédie, de l’humour et du stand-up! Travaillons ensemble pour que vous puissiez écrire, mettre en scène et performer vos propres numéros d’humour. Votre travail sera appuyé par divers invités professionnels qui partageront avec vous leur expertise dans le domaine de l’humour et du stand-up! Les places sont limitées.
